Rear Left Side Inner Wing

After working on the rust with a wire brush, I found the extent of the hole at the rear of the wheel arch.
A patching plate was cut and here it is being offered up to check for fit.
The first run of spot welds ...
... followed by the mig welder to finish around the edges.
Then I had to repair the inner wheel liner. Here, I’ve cut out the basic shape and I’m checking it for fit. This was the second side so I was working more quickly here!
Eventually I’m happy and the welds go on. The mig’s earth clamp is visible here.
A view from the underside showing the folded edge to the liner.
A closer view with a finishing weld run showing through from underneath.
Here it is after two coats of light blue Hammerite. This area should last a long time as it is enclosed by the wing when fitted.
